Bishop McCort Rolls Past Montgomery, 61–12, in PIAA Class AA State Team Championships

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Bishop McCort stormed into the quarterfinals of the 2026 PIAA Class AA State Team Wrestling Championships on Friday afternoon with a dominant 61–12 victory over Montgomery, powered by a steady stream of bonus point wins.

The dual opened at 160 pounds, where Jackson Butler wasted no time setting the tone with a 17–2 technical fall in just 1:50. The Crushers continued pouring it on throughout the upper weights, stacking up tech falls and pins.

At 285 pounds, McCort's Caleb Rodriguez delivered one of the most decisive moments of the early stretch, pinning Montgomery’s Aidan Nash in just 1:02.

Bishop McCort continued rolling as action moved to the lightweights.

At 107 pounds, Cotchen notched the fastest fall of the dual, pinning Marquette in only 19 seconds.

At 114 pounds, McCort forfeited to Montgomery’s Gabe Oberheim, giving the Red Raiders their first points.

Montgomery then forfeited to McCort’s Keegan Bassett at 121 pounds, swinging momentum back to the Crushers.

Wagner Outlasts Forrest in 127 Pound Thriller

Montgomery's highlight came at 127 pounds, where Carden Wagner battled through momentum swings and multiple injury stoppages to defeat McCort's Jamison Forrest.

Wagner exploded out of the gate, building a 6–1 lead with two takedowns while Forrest needed early injury time.

Forrest's comeback began in the second period:

  • escape: 6–2
  • takedown: 6–5
  • four near fall points: Forrest leads 9–6

Then came the turning point - Wagner hit a reversal, cutting it to 9–8, swinging the momentum back to his side. Moments later, Forrest was forced into another injury timeout that exceeded his limit, giving Wagner the win by injury default - Montgomery's grittiest performance of the evening.

Montgomery forfeited at 133 pounds, and at 139, McCort’s Owen McCullen added a 15–0 technical fall in 4:16. The Red Raiders then forfeited the final two weights, sealing the 61–12 victory for the Crushers.

Next Up for Montgomery

Montgomery continues its tournament run Saturday morning in the consolation bracket, where the Red Raiders will meet Saucon Valley at 9 a.m. Saucon Valley enters off a 36–30 win over Montoursville in Tuesday's opening round. Saucon Valley lost to Chestnut Ridge 42-29 in the other quarterfinal match.
